FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Waymark Internet Services Acquires Netsafe's
Customers
The Internet Business Unit of Waymark Communications Adds
to Its Portfolio
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DALLAS, TX., March 12, 1999 -- Waymark Communications,
http://www.waymark.net, today
announced the acquisition of Netsafe, Inc.'s,http://www.netsafe.net,
customer base. Netsafe is a Dallas based provider of national
dial-up Internet access, Web site hosting and software development.
The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
According to Mark W. Jones, President of Waymark Internet, “this,
our fifth acquisition of an Internet company, will substantially
increase Waymark's revenue and customer base as well as further
expand its service coverage area to the continental United States
and Canada. Waymark intends on providing enhanced services not
currently available to Netsafe customers. This should improve
the revenues expected from this transaction.” Mr. Jones added,
“you can expect to see other Waymark acquisitions of telecommunications
companies throughout Texas and the Southwest in the upcoming
months.”
“Netsafe's excellent reputation for service and reliability
has contributed to its consistent growth in customer base,”
commented Mr. Jones. “Individual customers will continue to
receive high-quality local access and support, enhanced with
new and innovative services, while business and corporate customers
gain access to a wide variety of broadband voice and data telecommunications
services. All of Waymark's customers can now have access to
a national network of local numbers created by Netsafe's alliances
with national access providers.”
Carl A. Erickson, Chief Executive of Netsafe, commented: “This
is an exciting opportunity for Netsafe and its customers. The
combined resources of Waymark, its affiliates, and now the addition
of Netsafe's customers, highlight the evolution of competition
in the telecommunications industry. Netsafe spent most of its
energy building Internet related software and Waymark's assumption
of Netsafe's North American access customers allows Netsafe
to concentrate on its core business. Through this acquisition,
Netsafe customers will be better served by an Internet provider
focused on providing access and hosting services."
Waymark Communications, headquartered in Addison, Texas, is
a telecommunications carrier providing a comprehensive array
of network services integrating voice, data and remote networking
solutions for small- to mid-sized business customers. Waymark
markets a variety of products and services through its telecommunications
management unit, Telecom Analyst Group (TAG), including facilities
and inventory management. Internet access is provided by its
affiliate, Waymark Internet Services, Inc. Waymark has been
providing services nationally since 1991.
